What is Sandman? 4b5v1k
As we mentioned in the introduction, Sandman is a serialized comic book written by Neil Gaiman, whose publication ran from 1989 to 1996. Sandman, the main character, is also known as Morpheus, or Dream, being an entity that is part of the Perpetuals, a group of beings that keep the universe together. His “brothers” include Death, Desire, Despair e Delirium, for example. His name - which means "sand man" or "sand", in English, refers to the legend that this being would be responsible for making us sleep and dream, pouring a magical sand in our eyes, and resulting in the accumulation of groans when we wake up.

In the story of Neil Gaiman, Sandman is captured in an occult ritual in 1916 and stripped of his magical powers, imbued in various items in his possession, such as a ruby and a helmet. After 105 years, Dream manages to escape and begins to recover his powers, seeking to return to reign over his domains, known as the To dream (the world of dreams). On his way, he encounters important figures in the universe. DCas the john constantine, Lucifer, John dee, Mister Miracle (Scott Free) and many others. With less action, the series is very introspective and philosophical, gaining a legion of fans since its initial publication.
The series and filming 3g2z6h
The end of filming Sandman comes as a relief to fans, as an adaptation of the work has been trying to be made since 1991, without success until now — all productions ended up in “development hell”, phase in which the project goes on hiatus to (possibly) never more come back to life. A movie based on the series was due to happen in 2013, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the role of Coríntio, but creative differences made him abandon the project in 2016. David goyer, the film's producer, refused to give up, and convinced the Warner Bros. to take the project to television. In June 2019, Netflix took over production, and things really started to move.
When the casting of the series was announced, a fuss was made on the internet, due to the presence of black and non-binary actors, changing the ethnicity and gender identity of characters in the series. At the time, the Neil Gaiman commented on the matter, saying that “Cares to ******* about the work and doesn't give a damn didn't read or didn't understand the work complaining about Desire be non-binary or Death not being white enough” (free translation of the tweet below).
The series' cast includes Tom sturridge as the main character, Dream, in addition to Gwendoline Christie like Lucifer, ruler of hell, Boyd holbrook like the Corinthian, a fugitive nightmare, Charles Dance like Roderick Burgess, a wizard and charlatan, Asim Chaudhry like Abel (yes, that Abel himself), Sanjeev Bhaskar like Cain, David thewlis like John Dee, Stephen Fry like Gilbert, Patton Oswalt like Matthew the Raven, Jenna Coleman like Johanna Constantine, Kirby Howell-Baptiste like Death, Mason Alexander Park as I wish, Preston woman like Despair and many other stars. Check out some of them below:

So far, we don't have much publicity material, such as posters and trailers, and we don't even know what the characters look like. With the original author's involvement and a few excited appearances from him on set, however, the prospects are good. The only video related to the production, by the way, is a peek behind the cameras that the Netflix released in YouTube and that we will put right below. Those who know the work will identify many elements, such as Matthew the Raven, one of the pets of Abel and the place where Dream is imprisoned.
In addition to talking about the end of filming the Sandman series on Netflix — commenting that the “key photograph” has already been completed —, Neil Gaiman also said that, for the moment, what we can do is wait for the visual effects to be worked on, the soundtrack to be composed and recorded, and other elements of the production to be finalized. Unfortunately, he said he didn't know about trailers or release dates. Gaiman, however, spoke about what he's made of the whole thing so far:
fear or gut feeling. from Sandman. I don't know if that means people who watch TV will like it — although I hope they will — but I suspect that if you're into the Sandman and want to see it on screen, then you're going to like it. (I also think Tom Sturridge will become a star after Sandman season XNUMX comes out.)

Interestingly, the announcement was made in a simple response to a fan question on… Tumblr. And you who thought no one else used it. The series is expected to be released in 2022, but no dates have been set. The first season will adapt the first arc of the comic series, “Preludes and Nocturnes", whose plot is the recovery of magic items from Dream, which we have already discussed above.
