Prime Video brought another heavy production and very well invested, with a very talented and experienced team (such as screenwriters Scott B. Smith and Jamie Chan) to work on several episodes based on William Gibson's book of the same name. With great subtlety and meticulousness, vibrant action scenes and true CG spectacles, the series manages to capture the essence of science fiction, as a strong genre of small screens and big screens, with great elegance and intelligence. With some patience and a lot of time, Peripherals will certainly please and/or surprise you. t4p3l
In long episodes (about 1 hour each), the series occupies each scene very well and manages to hold the viewer to almost every moment of obtuse dialogues and mind-blowing action scenes.
Check out what we think of the series so far.
tense realities 5h3bt
Flynne and Burton Fisher (Chlöe Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor, respectively) are brothers and live in the countryside of Virginia, USA, in a small town in the Appalachians. Both help each other a lot in everyday life, including video games, hobby they've shared since childhood (and now use professionally). Flynne also makes a living with illegal 3D printing and does everything to protect his brother and help his mother who has glioma, a malignant tumor that starts in the brain and gradually leaves her blind.
based on eponymous book by William Gibson, the premise of the series is that Flynne s his brother in a virtual world created to predict the future of London and, therefore, the future of humanity. All this to earn their keep and then help their mother together.
The story takes place, however, in a real world that has just gone through a big war again and, even in a small town, its citizens appear to be quite hostile. The village also reflects a decadent society, where the State is little present (there is only one sheriff in the city, with little legal and representative force: Ossian, played by Julian Moore-Cook) and there are constant conflicts between gangs and different groups that or not companies in criminal schemes. Sinister…

Virtual activities are funded by large corporations, analogous to big tech that we know well today, and work via an external neural device, very advanced for the time it exists (2032). Full of secondary characters, the series develops from situations of intense conflict between the interests of the Fisher family and their allies and the big capitalist corporations and their minions (people who do anything for the money offered and are constantly fed by crime and exploitation of honest people).
Completely serious aesthetics of a very well adapted version of Peripherals gain much more elegant forms in comparison to the movie Player # 1, for example, in which there is also metaverse, complex human relationships (offline, in this case) and choices of avatars/skins🇧🇷 At all times, it is possible to perceive a mysterious air, ed by the lore of the series, which is dealing with very serious and delicate subjects. And the path taken is to always bring good science fiction references not only from similar media (cinema and TV), but from books, comics and games as well.
metaverse eye drops 4e5x4t
You can find everything from Peripherals, except that it is an ugly series aesthetically. Its color palette, filters, play of lights in specific scenes and post-production make it extremely beautiful visually. Camera movements also highlight characters and make dialogue and fight clashes very interesting for viewers, except for some excessive cuts in a few moments.

It is impressive to see how the art direction is constantly concerned with creating differences between reality and the different types of metaverse available in technological s of that time. While Flynne uses his state-of-the-art device to enter a world completely similar to the real one, including the sensations of all human senses, Corbell Pickett (one of the antagonists, played by Louis Herthum) makes use of his set of sensors that give access to a metaverse with saturated colors and unconvincing, yet very realistic, non-player characters.
In addition, the series shows great elegance in structuring scenes in each different situation, tracing an entire narrative in linear chronology and using few forecasting or forecasting resources. flashbacks🇧🇷 This way of telling the story instigates more and more, holding viewers to the screen.
Likelihood? Certainly. a6v2x
Peripherals is always “stepping on fertile, solid and very pleasant ground” by William Gibson, but it certainly has a foot in the reality in which we live today. Very aware and intelligent, by the way.
The series deals with more or less complex themes, from Physics theories related to the Theory of Relativity and quantum tunneling to Dark Web concepts and the strong presence of 3D printers in environments more common to us. These and several other themes and objects – which could very well become reality in a few years – put our feet on the ground, but at the same time give free rein to the most perverse imagination possible. This is where science fiction comes into its own, enchanting and terrifying.

In addition, his biggest criticism, probably present in the book as well, is magnificent, keeping its content believable to our present and paying attention to possible very dark futures, which are often ignored by a large part of the world. Himself failure in sight of the metaverse is a concrete example of how we can be hostages of technologies imposed by big corps very bitchy, which lead humanity to an endless precipice of loneliness, social segregation and lack of human rights.
Who re the fun experiments by Ryan Trahan, famous YouTuber, including? Yeah, Flynne has some side effects very similar to his in some episodes and even much worse physical problems (without spoilers, that's for you to find out when you watch) when using the Virtual Reality device for an extended period of time.

The classic elements of cyberpunk (or pessimistic futurism) are also present at all times and give a very good freshness to the series, drawing parallels of decay and corruption in relation to what we already have today: precisely the beginning of the metaverse and very advanced technological weapons – and too dangerous , such as paramilitary drones.

Tense political clashes and fights/shootouts between tyrannical and powerful big corps, their allies and Flynne's people help to intensify the engaging plots and narratives, as well as incredible, extremely beautiful scenarios with and without absurdly well-made CGs that gradually conquer the attention of the spectator.
It's a very unique perspective created for the series that is unlikely to be replicated. Making a futuristic London, with huge skyscrapers in the form of classic Greco-Roman statues, robots that can simulate the voice and face of real people (even the dead) and real possibilities of curing terminal illnesses will certainly delight and convince different audiences.
Conclusion a5r1x
With the exception of the fact that each episode is an hour long, Peripherals is a perfect series! It's rare to find productions of the level she is reaching at the moment, always remaining engaging and thought-provoking, like good science fiction classics. And you will look forward to the continuation of your story. Or not (and that's okay).
Peripherals also have the potential to become just a classic cult from the Prime Video catalog, as it seeks to capture the most assiduous fans of science fiction and William Gibson's adapted works, which can already be a very niche audience in itself. Your triumph can be really meteoric and fail to be ed in the long run. And, again: the length of the episodes in no way contributes to their resounding success – a pleasant way out would be to divide the time of each chapter into half an hour and release them more frequently in the catalog (?). However, it is a very respectable series in all its audiovisual and narrative aspects.
The art direction, the set design, the performances, the post-production, the visual effects… Everything looks too incredible in the new Amazon title, which seems to constantly stand out compared to any relevant series today. No wonder, it is possible to capture the essence of great productions that the big billionaire has released, such as the recent The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power🇧🇷 The money invested in all its built details is very noticeable.
If you're looking for a lot of action, subversive plots and “big-headed” questions to reflect your day-to-day life that is closely related to emerging technologies, Peripherals is definitely for you. And everything, absolutely everything carries narratives and political criticism. This title is no different. Your messages have been very interesting so far and we look forward to seeing the unfolding of such provocative and captivating plots.
Peripherals, which already has 6 episodes, is available on Prime Video🇧🇷 Its first season will have eight episodes until December 9th. We strongly recommend!

Photography10/10 ExcellentIt is one of the highest points of the great production. The images and backgrounds are amazing and easily take your breath away. Its filters and color palettes are also very unique and impressive.
-
Soundtrack8/10 GreatIt fulfills its role well, but it is nothing above expectations, that is, it conveys the right emotions at the right times and reinforces the fictional and technological energy of the production. It helps a lot those who watch to immerse themselves in its world, but even so, it doesn't stand out.

Operation9/10 AmazingAll actors and actresses are exceptional. Some ing actors leave something to be desired in a very few moments, but it is nothing that negatively impacts the work as a whole.
This series is fantastic! It holds from beginning to end and invites us to reflect on a not very beautiful future for the human race…
Regarding the duration of the episodes, I thought it was normal, I'm used to marathoning series and the duration is the same - and in the case of this series in question, the opposite happens to me, the episode ends and I already think it was too fast, of course. so entertained I am.
This series is also pure gematric ritual, so they generate the egregorized intent of what they want to do with humanity. If you look closely, lately a large part of the series and films have been like this, pure gematria, after all, those who finance them are the same ones who control this agenda. 🇧🇷
