Ideal for those who want a more minimalist setup, without giving up RGB, it has a battery life of up to 44 hours and easy configuration for games

With official price at home R$800, Logitech G515 LIGHTSPEED TKL arrives with the mission of being a good wireless mechanical keyboard that is also thin and backlit, to give that touch of immersion. It is also very compact and has a very complete configuration application. See what we think. 57684

Model was launched in Brazil in two colors (Photo: Disclosure)

We received the white version of the model, but it was also released in black. The device follows the standard ABNT1 without the cedilla key, which also allows you to use shortcuts for items like the slash and question mark. For those who are used to keyboards that follow the standard ABNT2, it will be necessary to go through a small adaptation.

I really liked that I was able to use this model on my notebook, as it fits well on the touchpad. Its more compact size is also useful for those who have smaller desks and I recommend it for those who want to have a more minimalist gamer setup, without compromising on quality.

There are two leveling modes (4th and 8th) that you can choose from for more dynamic use. I particularly liked the 8th one more because it is higher and also helps with my posture, but in reality what will influence this is the personal way you like to play. In any case, both are available.

The reduction in size ends up having a reason: the numeric keypad is not present in the model. If you are someone who uses this a lot on a daily basis, you will need to use the numeric strip below the function keys, which are a good stopgap.

Personally, I'm a person who listens to a lot of music and the media control on my personal notebook is a great help so I don't have to open the Spotify every time. I thought that, since it's a smaller keyboard, I wouldn't find these keys here, but they're present on the F9, F10, F11 and F12 keys.

Media control keys are available (Photo: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

You can also control the volume (increase, decrease or mute) using the keys PRNT, LOCK e P/B. These are shortcuts that you don't actually believe you'll use so much until you have them available, and having this on a gaming keyboard, where every second counts, not having to pause the game to pause the music is a huge benefit.

All keys can be illuminated in the color and style you want, with emphasis on the keys A, W, S and D, so as not to make a mistake at any time, available at Pulse Point, which is the most suitable for games. In total, it is possible to customize them in ten modes, which are:

  • Fixed
  • Breath
  • Color Cycle
  • color wave
  • Curling
  • Pulse point
  • screen sampler
  • Echo Press
  • Starlight
  • Audio Preview

Now, there is a personal comment that I try to understand even after using the keyboard for hours: four of the lighting modes (Screen Sampler, Echo Press, Starlight and Audio Visualizer) do not work when the device is being used in Bluetooth mode.

There are ten lighting modes on the keyboard (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Nobody knows why, and let's think: if the USB-A connection is kind of the same, since there's a dongle, why do the modes simply choose not to work? It's a question that remains unanswered. I just think about those who buy a keyboard like this that only has one USB-A port on their notebook and use it to connect a mouse, for example, since the connection is increasingly less used.

Of course, the type of who buys a keyboard like this must also have a notebook with more than one USB-A port, but it would be nice if all modes could be used here. It's not a big problem that the six modes that work in Bluetooth mode provide good immersion.

One point I found interesting is that if you have a Logitech mouse or headset, you can synchronize the light of the Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL with another peripheral of the brand, without the need to configure each one. Something simple and practical that makes a difference in everyday life.

The device can be connected to your desktop or keyboard in two ways: via a USB-A dongle fitted to the back, or via Bluetooth. As we mentioned earlier, the difference between these is more in the lighting modes and in both options, they worked very well.

O Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL does not the technology EasySwitch, which allows you to switch between devices using the same keyboard. Considering the category it is placed in, it is worth considering that a gamer would only have a desktop to play with, so it is worth giving this “lack” a rest.

There's nothing negative to say about the connectivity of this Logitech gaming keyboard: its connectivity is one of its highlights and in the week that we used it here, it was connected to the computer in less than five seconds.

Connectivity

When we are using the keyboard via Bluetooth, it is compatible with devices with Windows 10 or higher, macOS 12 or higher, Chrome OS, or Android 4.3 or later, iOS 10 or later. Speaking via USB-A dongle, it will be possible to use it with computers running Windows 10 or later or macOS 12 or later.

Like any mechanical keyboard, it is quite clear that it is far from silent, but that is the price you pay for having a device with a better response rate. But let's agree that most gamers play with headsets that isolate external sound, so in most of my tests with Fortnite ou Destiny 2, I could barely hear the keys clicking.

It is also worth ing that the key Delete has undergone a small change and, in this model, it is located in a different location, more towards the right corner. It is not a huge problem, but you will have to get used to it if you use keyboards in the ABNT2 format.

An interesting setting is the possibility of disabling some keys in game mode so as not to press something you shouldn't and have problems in games. The configuration is done in the application Logitech and a key to activate this mode is available. You can create a mode for each game and switch between them easily. Useful and practical.

Battery 4i148

Battery life is impressive (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

I always expect Logitech battery-powered keyboards to have a long battery life and this one is no different. The manufacturer promises up to 44 hours of battery life, something around 5 days straight. Here, I played with the Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL for 4 hours a day, since Sunday with the RGB on, and it lasted until Monday of the following week, totaling 36 hours of use.

Around 44 hours may seem like little compared to models like the Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96, which promises 1500 hours of use with RGB on, but honestly speaking I didn't see the 36 hours as a big problem, because even if you use it outside the house, the Logitech keyboard will still have battery life for a whole day.

I really liked that the battery can be recharged via USB-C connection, which avoids having to deal with wires on the table. I also chose to work with the Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL When testing the Galaxy Book4 Edge after a full week of work, there was still 17% battery left for weekend gaming. And you can also use the keyboard while it charges by connecting it to a USB-C port.

Logitech ships a USB-C cable to recharge the model that you can connect to a power source with the other end of the USB-A type. Or you can use the charger of your notebook, smartphone or tablet to also recharge the G515 Lightspeed TKL. Here, nothing negative to say.

Application allows complete keyboard configuration (Screenshot: Victor Pacheco/Showmetech)

Once you connect to your notebook or desktop, you are invited to use the Logitech G HUB, which allows you to know the remaining battery percentage, change lighting modes and also control other peripherals of the brand. It is available for Windows e MacOS.

The application itself is quite simple: you can select the keys that will be disabled in game mode, change or disable lighting modes and also configure other usage modes so that they are activated with a single button.

It's the famous: simple, but useful. You need to with your to use it, and the interesting thing about this is that all the settings of one keyboard can be used on another keyboard just by logging in with the same .

More minimalist model looks great on smaller tables (Photo: Disclosure)

O Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL is an great gaming keyboard which can also be easily used for work. With a compact size, it stands out for being good for use in various tasks and your games will become increasingly immersive.

Still, for those who use keyboards in the ABTN2 format, it will take at least a day to adapt to the ABTN1 format, as there are some letters that are only available through shortcuts, and you will have to adapt to this. But, once you get the hang of it, the Logitech keyboard will be a great partner.

Personally, I missed the numeric keypad on the right corner, but these are features that also make it compact and ideal for those who like a more intimate gaming setup. The famous saying: the best perfumes come in the smallest bottles.
