The second episode deepens bonds, as well as beginning to reveal our protagonist's Penguin traits.

O second episode from the series Penguin is now available and with it we had a greater development of some characters, a greater demonstration of what Oz can do to achieve his goals and the size of the madness that goes on in Sofia Falcone's head. It was a calmer episode, but full of life and development. Check out the full review! 2b4m2i

Oz, the world's biggest liar i4s1d

What was presented in the first episode continues in this one, but with a new purpose. Oz has already caused chaos among the families Falcone e Maroni while he came off as the good guy — or almost that — with both of them. It's very interesting to see how much the character can use his lies and stories to achieve his goals. With him, there's always an ace up his sleeve and he's slowly managing to reach his greatest enemies in the Falcone family, in order to take their empire for himself.

As the name of the episode suggests, we have a Infiltrate in the story and this is very interesting to follow. From the first minutes, this story is launched and begins with a drug shipment with Oz involved, until this begins to splash to anyone in the Falcone family, all due to the lying gab of the protagonist who manages to convince the family Maroni to enter his game.

Sofia Falcone is the big highlight in the second episode of Penguin (Image: Warner)

Sofia Falcone gains more prominence in this second episode than in the previous one. In mourning for her brother, she is willing to find the culprit for this at any cost. The problem is that, in addition to being very mentally unstable, she also has to face her uncle and the rest of the family who think little of their family , only about business. Throughout the episode, we see Sofia's character develop to go completely against her own family, both because they treat her like a crazy and poor thing, who shouldn't get involved in business, and also because Oz had a hand in all of this.

From the first episode, we see who killed Alberto, Sofia's brother, was Oz, who managed to get away with it by blaming the Maroni. This is repeated here. If before Sofia was 100% willing to end Oz, with everything that happens in this episode and her own family pushing her away, she ends up going to the protagonist's side, trying to take his place, but being deceived and without realizing it.

Sofia is my favorite character so far, and her acting is Cristin Milioti is great, conveying all the pain, madness and despair she carries. You can feel that she truly loved her brother, being the only one who gave her any value when she went to Arkham.

Speaking of which, this is where we get the mention of the name “The Executioner”, a title she received after murdering seven people. In the original, this name is Hangman, as she literally hangs her victims in a sadistic game of hangman.

Little by little, Oz's personality and attitudes transform him into the Penguin we know (Image: Warner)

Another element that really caught my attention in this episode was Oz's villainy. In the first episode, he played the game, sort of hired Vic, and the two got along. In this new episode, things went wrong, and Oz had to completely change his plan. The thing is that his treatment of Vic changed drastically, in addition to him blaming the boy entirely, something that anyone who played the games in the franchise would have noticed. Arkham will recognize easily.

The Penguin is always bossy and doesn't have the best personality when it comes to affection. The series shows a little more about this, bringing his mother into the story, but not even she treats him with affection. She just throws the weight on him, saying that he can't be a failure in life. In the end, Oz is a traumatized guy trying to fulfill his mother's dream of being a man full of glory. Not for him, but for her.

And that says a lot about what The Penguin is. Even though the series is showing traces of affection in Oz, most of these feelings are just interests for him to achieve his true goal. Vic is used almost like a slave, and Sofia is completely manipulated by his lies. Just like in the Maroni and Falcone mafia families, which, in this case, I even understand, because they are a bunch of scoundrels.

Another point that stands out in this episode is Oz's coldness. At Alberto's funeral, his plan was to hold a party so that Vic could put the jewels in another family member's car in order to incriminate him. At that moment, however, Sofia had a Maroni man in the basement to give her information about who the mole is. The moment Oz discovers that the jewel plan failed, he kills the man in the basement and runs away. Not only that, but in the middle of the confusion, he manages to throw his knife to another person who wasn't even involved. He is the master of chaos.

Characters w1l4f

Sofia and Luca Falcone, her uncle (Image: Warner)

In this episode, we were introduced to some new characters. The first of them is Dr. Julian Rush (Theo Rossi), who is basically Sofia's psychologist. Due to the intimacy of the scene, it is implied that he has deeper feelings for her, although Sofia finds herself in a position far from being fixed.

The family Maroni also brought more . In addition to the return of Savior (Clancy Brown), we had the introduction of Nadia Maroni. She seems to be the real owner of the family and doesn't need much to eliminate people. While Salvatore gets into the Oz wave, she isn't so easily fooled, which could lead to an interesting development throughout the series.

Another new character is Luca Falcone, Sofia's uncle. He is the new leader of the family and seems to be more interested in delaying her life. He comes with idle talk, saying that she needs a vacation and other things. In the end, you can see that he doesn't want a woman there, much less the problematic daughter of his late brother. This is an interesting issue that will probably heat up in the next episode, with the help of the lying Oz.

Technical aspects 214466

The technical quality remains impeccable. Colin Farrell's makeup continues to be excellent, and it's hard to tell it's the actor there. The costumes and sets also do their job very well, ensuring immersion in the Gotham environment. It's curious because, unlike a work with Batman, we see very little of downtown Gotham here. We know it's the same place, but we're exploring something different, and that's excellent. It's literally a series about Gotham's underworld.

Conclusion a5r1x

Oz does what he does to please his mother (Image: Warner)

the second episode of Penguin maintains quality in every way and explores the protagonist's most manipulative side. At times, I was able to glimpse elements of Breaking Bad. in the series, which is great. The production seems to know where it's going and at the right time. We'll have to wait for the next episodes, but so far, it's a great production, and I'm already looking forward to next week.

Comment below what you think of the series, ing that it can be assisted by MAX and also through the paid channel HBO.
